Speedy’s Cottage

The 199 Steps lead down from Whitby's clifftop to the town below, and Speedy's Cottage sits at their foot in the heart of the cobbled streets. Tate Hill beach is a minute's walk away. The surrounding area is thick with independent shops, cafes, and centuries of history—Vikings, smugglers, jet workers and their legacy still visible in the workshops and jewellers that line the narrow lanes.

This 17th-century cottage has been thoroughly renovated. The lower ground floor holds a twin bedroom with ensuite shower and a kitchen with granite worktops leading into an open-plan living and dining space, where exposed beams mark the building's age. Upstairs, a kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower and smart TV. Both bedrooms have TVs. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and washing machine. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. Outside is a patio with barbecue and on-road parking nearby. One dog stays free.

The cottage sleeps four and is yours alone for the stay. It suits families, friends travelling together, or couples wanting a proper base in Whitby rather than a seaside hotel room. No smoking inside.
