The Shack

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

Beck Hole is a hamlet deep in the North York Moors National Park, tucked into countryside threaded with footpaths and the old Rail Trail. The Shack sits here as a detached timber lodge on its own, with an enclosed garden and parking for one car. It's a single storey, all on ground level, built around an open-plan living space that connects kitchen, dining area and lounge to a private outdoor sitting area with views into the surrounding moors.

Inside are one double bedroom and one bathroom with shower. The kitchen has the basics for self-catering—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. A 32" TV and DVD player are in the living area. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included. No smoking throughout.

Walkers will find the Cleveland Way and numerous other routes starting from the village. Goathland, used as the filming location for the TV series Heartbeat, is less than a mile away. Whitby lies around 10 miles off, and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast—Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes among them—is within reach for a day trip. The Birch Hall Inn serves as the village's focal point and traditional meeting place.
