Built in the 1860s as part of the Victorian expansion of Thornhill Farm, Tilly's Cottage retains the character of that era—low ceiling beams, an open range fire, and architectural quirks like a 'coffin drop'—while sitting on land that has been farmed since at least the early 1600s. The working sheep farm spreads across fields and open moorland, creating a genuinely quiet setting despite being less than a mile from Goathland village.
Three bedrooms sleep six: two kingsize beds on the first floor (one with moorland views), and two singles on the second floor (also with views across the moors). Two bathrooms serve the property—one with a bath, one with a shower cubicle. Downstairs holds a living room with an open fire, a kitchen and dining room equipped for cooking and eating together, and a utility room with a washing machine. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; initial fuel for the fire is provided. A lawned garden with seating, a covered barbecue area and outdoor games occupy the grounds, with parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome at no extra cost.
Goathland itself doubled as 'Aidensfield' in the television series Heartbeat and the cottage appeared in filming; the steam train from Goathland runs past a Thornhill field. Whitby—with its harbour, abbey and clifftop golf—sits further along the coast, and Pickering is accessible by the same heritage railway. The North York Moors surround the property for walking and exploration.

Great cottage, well it is a full 3 storey house. Washing machine, fridge, freezer, dryer, microwave and fully fitted kitchen. Comfortable sitting room and bedrooms, powerful showers. Very quiet location, private outdoor area and good parking. Clean kitchen and bathrooms - there are 2. Nice towels and guest touches. Beds very clean.A few things let it down. Most door handles are loose. Although it was clean there was a lack of complete attention to cobwebs, dusty behind sofas and cushions. TV screen was very dirty, windows could have done with a clean. Carbon monoxide detectors were present but alarms would have been better given the open log fire.

Lovely cottage in perfect location - secluded and peaceful but village with shop, tea rooms and 3 pubs within a mile! Fantastic walks from the door. Ideal for families and dogs.
