The Long Barn

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

You enter The Long Barn into a double-height living room where timber beams and stonework set the tone for the whole building. French doors lead out to a stone terrace and the garden beyond, and on cooler evenings a wood burner warms the space. The kitchen is open-plan to the dining area, fitted with a full range of appliances for self-catering, and there's another wood burner here too if you want one running while you cook. Three cars can park on site, and a stream and partially-fenced pond sit within the grounds, so do supervise children and dogs accordingly.

Four bedrooms sleep eight: three have kingsize beds, and the fourth has two singles. Bathrooms total three across the property—one en-suite to a first-floor bedroom, one walk-in shower on the ground floor, and a main bathroom with a bath and shower upstairs. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included; logs for the wood burners are available to buy on-site. One dog is welcome as long as it stays on a lead, since sheep graze the surrounding fields. A bike store is provided, and a sitting-out area with garden furniture lets you take in moorland views from the grounds themselves.

The Long Barn sits in sheep country on the edge of North York Moors National Park. Walkers can access miles of footpaths and bridleways directly, or take a flat walk along the old railway line to Goathland village, where a pub serves food within a mile of the property.
