About The Aviator Hotel
Watching light aircraft take off and land is part of the experience at The Aviator Hotel, built on the grounds of Sywell Airport Business Park in Northamptonshire. The building's art deco styling sets it apart from the usual roadside hotel, giving the bar and restaurant a distinctive period character while overlooking the airfield itself.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and the usual comforts, including free WiFi, though some are showing their age rather than feeling freshly refurbished. The restaurant is a genuine draw, with a reputation for generous portions, particularly the Sunday lunches and gammon steaks, and staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive. Breakfast is included, and there's a bar, garden and outdoor seating for warmer days. The hotel also handles weddings, with a bridal suite and meeting rooms available for business events.
Free on-site parking makes arriving straightforward, and the location near Billing Aquadrome gives visitors a nearby attraction beyond the airfield, with Wellingborough also within reach. It's a hotel best suited to those who don't mind a slightly dated room in exchange for good food, attentive service and the novelty of runway views.
What guests say
Lovely stay this weekend, staff were lovely and food was amazing! The rooms were alright disappointing with being too hot, and when windows open so much noise during the night it was hard to sleep. I also mentioned it was my fiancés birthday on the day we arrived, I mentioned this way in advance but nothing was done so that was a shame… Overall a lovely hotel and being on air air field was a play as my partner loves planes, will come back in summer - it’s so close to Silverstone too for the cars lovers as well. Thanks!

Disappointed this morning to be told i couldnt purchase a breakfast bap (although they are advertised on the reception wall) to eat outside as they had "no bread rolls"!! Although I could pay nearly £14 for a buffet breakfast. So could in fact make my own sandwich if I was prepared to pay that price. I had only visited to support someone doing a charity event at the airfield. So Disappointed 😞.

A real gem of a hotel. Soooo different to the run of the mill. No expense spared to create a unique feel. Too many period touches to name. Loved my desk lamp. Went on a work stop over but wouldn’t hesitate to go with my partner, she’d love it. Staff were very nice and the food was great.

I used to be a regular customer of the Aviator and thought it would be a lovely place to have my husbands 60th birthday party. The pre service by the lady I was dealing with was good. Prompt and informative. The room hire was £150. A tad expensive but none the less I knew it would the right place. The next thing was food. Firstly, I must explain that you are not permitted to bring your own food, so you have to have their catering and I use the word catering very loosely. It was an afternoon gathering so I thought a selection of Sandwiches and wraps etc would suffice at £12.99 per head and as I said we are regulars at the aviator and have always enjoyed their lunchtime offering of sandwiches etc so I thought this would be perfect. HOWEVER. This was not the case. So baring in mind I catered for 32 people. And paid £380, Plus the room hire, which was payable prior to the event, what was presented to my guests was actually laughable. If fact I cried. Two trays of basic sandwiches with a few wraps around the trays and 3 bowls of crisps. Yes you are reading this correct. I went to see the manager and asked when the rest of the food was being bought out and she said that was it! I was truely mortified. People had driven a long way. Some were even staying at the hotel. Totally embarrassed is an understatement. Eventually we were offered some wedges and some more cheap and basic sandwiches I tried to enjoy the rest of the day but it for me was ruined. So I then wrote an email of complaint. To which again wasn’t really dealt with in the manor I felt it should working in customer care myself. Yes Mr Bletsoe Brown offered me a gesture of goodwill because I asked for it, but the service and food we received was totally unacceptable for the price I paid. Sack the chef because he clearly has no idea how to do a buffet Keep Nadine. She is good at her job For a hotel and food provider you need to seriously up your game and provide for the prices you charge.
