Ferny Rigg Byre
Northumberland
Kielder Water's watersports, walking trails and visitor centres lie within driving distance, along with the North of England's observatory. The Northumberland National Park encompasses Europe's largest dark sky reserve, making this a genuine destination for stargazing. Falstone village and its pub are close by; the working farm itself offers something different—alpaca walks can be arranged with the owners.
Ferny Rigg Byre is a renovated stone building on a rural property, reached down an unmade road. Inside, the open-plan living space has a woodburner, a patio accessed through French doors, and an equipped kitchen with dishwasher and induction hob. Upstairs, the galleried bedroom contains a double bed and ensuite shower. Underfloor heating, electricity, wifi and initial fuel are included; bed linen and towels are provided. There is parking for two cars on site and an EV charging point.
A mile of fishing rights on the North Tyne comes with the property (bring your own licence). The enclosed garden has a step. This is a retreat for two people seeking quiet countryside or a base for exploring Kielder's reservoir activities—kayaking, sailing, cycling and events run through the year.
