Newonstead Bothy is a converted barn on a working farm in rural Northumberland, set back from the main road but within easy reach of exploring the county. The single bedroom contains a kingsize bed, and there is an ensuite with shower. Everything is on the ground floor, arranged as an open-plan space where the kitchen, dining area and living room flow together, with a woodburner for cooler evenings.
The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering: electric oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge mean you can cook as much or as little as you want. Biomass heating, electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and wood for the burner are all included. An enclosed garden with seating looks out over the farm, and there is parking for two cars on site. One dog can stay free of charge.
The farm setting makes it a natural base for walking and cycling, with access to marked routes across the surrounding fields. The porch has space to store outdoor kit, and bicycles can be left in a dedicated store. The owners provide maps showing where you can walk, and local information about day trips—Wallington Hall is five miles away, and the Roman town of Corbridge is twenty minutes' drive. No smoking inside the property.
