No 2 Railway Cuttings occupies the grounds of an old railway signal box near Falstone in Northumberland. The single-storey stone cottage is ground-floor throughout, with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bathroom with bath and separate shower, and an open-plan living space that includes a kitchen, dining area and sitting room. Everything needed for self-catering is provided: bed linen, towels, wi-fi, and electricity are all included, along with a washing machine and dryer. One dog can stay free of charge. There is private parking for two cars on site.

The cottage sits inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, where minimal light pollution makes for some of Britain's best conditions to see the night sky. The Milky Way, Northern Lights and meteor showers are all possibilities depending on the season. A pub serving real ale is within a mile, and the village of Falstone has a tearoom and small shop. Kielder Forest and its wider outdoor attractions are nearby. The property does not permit smoking.

We stayed at No 1 Railway Cuttings. Kitchen fittings were impeccable - everything was easy to use, we had no problems with them at all. Same for the TV and broadband. Sofas and bed really comfy. It's an excellent place to stay if you want to explore a little of the surrounding area - the Falstone Circular Walk is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. It's very dark at night, so be a good place for anyone with an interest in stargazing.

Super place. Thoroughly recommend if you're looking for somewhere quiet. No garden to speak of so bear in mind. We have two medium sized dogs. However, just a short hop from front door is a long driveway leading up to a gate to a private driveway and here I could let the dogs run and burn off some energy etc.The "public driveway" was very quiet. From accommodation easy to walk into village and also to walk along disused railway line.
