The Water Castle

Walk through the door of The Water Castle and you're in a single open-plan space where living, dining and kitchen flow together. Everything happens on the ground floor: a sitting area with Freeview and DVD player opens into a dining zone and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. One bedroom has a kingsize bed with an ensuite bathroom and shower; the other contains two single beds served by a separate shower room. The whole property is yours alone, with private parking for three cars and an electric charging point if you need it.

Outside, a lawned garden with patio and sitting areas spreads across an acre that includes woodland. The building itself is a converted water tower, giving the place an architectural character you won't find in a standard cottage. Corbridge village is close by. Hadrian's Wall lies within reach for a morning or afternoon visit, and Hexham with its abbey and racecourse is a short drive. The Northumberland coast—with its castles and beaches—is roughly an hour away. A restaurant and bar in Newton village is an eight-minute walk. The essentials are provided: heating, wi-fi, linen and towels. No smoking throughout.

A pleasant & peaceful place to relax. Our break was totally ruined by a misunderstanding of arrival and departure dates; we politely packed up and left early because we are dignified people, but received no formal apology or remuneration for our two lost nights.
