Whittle Dene Fishery and the reservoir itself are on the doorstep, making this an ideal base for walking, fishing, or simply spending time by the water. The Grade II listed house, designed by John Dobson in 1848, occupies a rare spot on the reservoir banks with uninterrupted views from its windows. Built in Tudor style with a distinctive two-storey octagonal tower, it has genuine character throughout rather than the predictable finish of newer holiday lets.
The property sleeps 6 across three bedrooms: a kingsize with an ensuite and roll-top bath, a double, and two singles. Three bathrooms serve the whole house. Downstairs, the dining room and sitting room both face the water, with a wood-burning stove in the dining room and a wood burner for atmosphere. There is also a second sitting room with a PlayStation and Smart TV. The kitchen is properly equipped for cooking, with a gas range and full complement of appliances; a separate utility room has laundry facilities. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, and the open fires have fuel provided.
A hot tub for six overlooks the garden, and private parking accommodates three cars. One dog is welcome. The property is non-smoking. Note that a fenced lake sits just 3 yards from the house.
