Wall walkers beware: a trap lies in wait at this inn that will significantly lighten your wallet! Allow me to explain. My grandson and I arrived exhausted in the early evening after a full day's walk along the Hadrian's Wall Path. We were coldly greeted by a dour-faced, middle-aged bearded man who seemed indifferent to, or perhaps even mildly antagonized by, our presence. Having eaten very little that day, we ordered a somewhat hefty meal which was more-or-less satisfactory, as was the service of our waitress. The £97 bill, however, was quite a shock; far too much money for the quality and quantity of the food we received. The greatest shock, however, was the £135 "cabin" we were shown to: a single room that was little more than a poorly constructed, uninsulated tool shed on blocks. The floor, and hence the uncomfortable beds, was unlevel, and daylight could be seen in parts of the wall and around the windows. On top of that, bathroom activities were far from private, the pillow cases didn't cover the pillows, and the place was really dirty. For hundreds of years, Robin Hood, the namesake of this establishment, has been known throughout the world as an icon of fairness and equality who redirected the resources of the wealthy to the needful poor. Neither I nor my grandson are wealthy, decidedly less so since our stay at the Robin Hood Inn: £237 for a mediocre meal and a rough night in a tool shed. That equates to about €280 and about $320. In my book, that's situationally-exploitative highway robbery and I wish that the bandits would give me my money back!

Wow! We ate here in April 2026, our first time since new management have taken over and it was an excellent meal. All 4 mains were amazing quality with mussels in thai green sauce as the standout (honestly some of the best mussels I have ever eaten and a huge portion). Attentive, helpful service and good value for money. Make the effort to visit and support a local business - it's well worth the visit

I’m extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. I brought my wheelchair bound, 95 year old grandmother, along with my parents and sibling, for what we hoped would be a nice Mother’s Day lunch together. Unfortunately, it turned into a very frustrating and upsetting visit. We waited around two and a half hours and in that entire time we only received a starter and a drink. There was no clear communication from staff about the delay, and we repeatedly had to try to get someone’s attention just to ask what was happening with our food. What made the situation worse was the attitude of the staff. Several members of the team were dismissive and rude when we asked for updates. Considering we had an elderly grandmother with us, the lack of care, patience, and basic courtesy was particularly disappointing. After such a long wait with almost no food and poor service, the entire experience felt like a complete waste of time and money. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had as a family. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially for families or anyone needing considerate service.
