Not what we expected! We visited thinking it would be like usual castles by being set up inside how it would have been. Inside feels like a modern Art museum and you wouldn’t know you were inside a castle. Slightly let down by the interior. £18 to get in for an adult but this can be used for entry for a year. Make sure you go round to the Brewhouse Yard, next to the old Jerusalem pub in the cave wall. You need your castle ticket to access inside the brewhouse yard but it is outside the castle grounds. This includes a walk through of four old cottages and access to a cave area, which is a nice addition! Fab park in the castle grounds for the kids and lovely cafe with friendly staff! If visiting with someone who has a blue badge, you can email them in advance to reserve a free parking space in the castle grounds. Worth a visit, just don’t expect to see a traditional castle because the original one was knocked down. It is more of a museum.

Nottingham Castle turned out to be a bit of a letdown for a fan of authentic medieval castles like me, because it was actually destroyed during the Luddite riots two centuries ago; the current building was then constructed there, which is completely different and designed to serve as a gallery. Only the castle’s entrance gate has remained in place and is authentic. Everywhere they advertise Robin Hood, of course. There’s a statue of him by the fortress walls, outside the castle. Otherwise, from the top, there’s a 360-degree panorama of the entire city, which is quite pleasant.

Fantastic castle with a lovely view. Unfortunately, as we did a cave tour we weren't able to properly view the castle, but next time. The caves are a must. The tour guide was very good, Rory I think his name was. The caves are all lit up and cool,so I think it's suitable for most people. Steep and uneven steps in places, but there is a handrail. Really nice day.

I enjoyed it but not my favourite attraction. I can see why many people would rate it higher, learning about the history of the castle (e.g the rebellions) was super cool. The galleries were okay, but not really to my taste personally. Since it's more a personal taste thing, I've still rated it five stars. I do think exploring Mortimers Hole was amazing and our tour guide was incredible, funny but also kept you hooked and told you the story. Overall, I had a good time here and would recommend it to others.
