About Hart's Hotel

Hart's Hotel occupies a striking modern building set into the line of Nottingham's old town walls, immediately beneath the castle and a short walk from the Lace Market. It is one of the city's longest-established boutique hotels, run independently rather than as part of a chain, and the rooms are large by city-centre standards, several with private terraces looking out over the rooftops towards the Old Market Square.

The hotel's restaurant has built its own following separate from the rooms, serving modern British food with a seasonal, produce-led menu, and the small bar makes a good spot for a pre-dinner drink even for non-residents. Rooms are finished in a clean, understated style with underfloor bathroom heating and Egyptian cotton linen rather than heavy period decor, reflecting the building's genuinely modern construction despite its historic setting.

Its position on Standard Hill puts the castle, the caves beneath Nottingham and the Lace Market all within a few minutes on foot, while the elevated site means a quieter night's sleep than many hotels right in the thick of the Old Market Square nightlife. Private parking is available on site, a genuine advantage in this part of the centre.

I wanted to leave some balanced feedback following my stay. The managers and wider staff team were genuinely lovely, welcoming, and very helpful throughout, which I truly appreciated after a long day at work! Their professionalism and kindness really stood out and made a positive impression. However, there were a few issues with the evening dining experience as well as the breakfast. When mentioning this to the waitress, I received an apology but there was no real follow-up or resolution offered. That said, the staff behind the welcoming desk were very supportive and helpful when the issue was raised to them and they were quick to respond with efficiency and respect. Their attitude really helped soften the experience. I’ll definitely be recommending the hotel to visiting clients at my work and colleagues.

Booked extremely last minute enroute after original hotel went into administration Welcomed into the hotel from the car park, possibly before we should have arrived, lucky the room was ready, we weren't turned away or charged early check in Perfect location for city centre Room was small, but ample for sleeping. Quality tea and coffee facilities, with the additional mini bar if required. Felt slightly dated but comfortable bed and clean sheets. Bathroom needed a little more attention to detail from housekeeping but I work the industry so notice more than other would. People mention it being noisy. I cannot agree on this visit, our room was 2nd floor, we had no disturbances at all, but could understand other opinions as doors do not have soft close. Room service was reasonable, staff professional and polite at all times Breakfast was nice We had booked via hotels.com which hadn't been transparent with prices. We had additional charges on parking and breakfast which of course we paid for as we used the services. Overall we had a lovely relaxed stay with easy access to the city and convenience of EV charging

Unfortunately the exterior of the hotel far surpasses the hotel room we stayed in. For the cost, the room we had was cramped and the shower screen didn’t prevent water from leaking everywhere. I was really looking forward to our stay but it was a bit underwhelming. Otherwise the service was friendly and polite and the location was fantastic as well.

Rooms are a bit dated and small considering we paid extra for a superior room. Allergy issue with breakfast and wrong labelling which could of caused some big issues with my health. I do have an EpiPen but should not of had to even consider using it due to a labeling error by a luxury boutique hotel! Breakfast staff did not seem at all trained and with only 3 tables and 3 members of staff our toast was forgotten and our breakfast finished by the time we got it. Issue was dealt with and someone came over and apologised but a bit late by then. From the outside it looks lovely but rooms do not reflect this at all
