MacKay's Guest House sits directly on Corran Esplanade, Oban's seafront promenade, around 50 metres from the shore with open views across the bay to passing ferries and the islands beyond. It is an adults-only property, with en suite rooms fitted with superking or king beds, premium bedding and designer toiletries.
Breakfast is a continental spread delivered to each room rather than served in a communal dining area, giving guests more flexibility over timing, and the house provides free Wi-Fi and off-street parking for up to six vehicles, useful given how limited seafront parking can get in high season.
Its Esplanade position puts it a short, level walk from Oban town centre, the harbour and the railway and ferry terminals, while still being far enough along the seafront to feel calm in the evenings. It suits couples wanting an intimate, adults-only base directly on the water.

My husband and I spent four nights at Mackays in June 2026. The room we had was clean and well appointed. Really comfy super-kingsize bed. Two reclining chairs in front of the bay window to look out across the water and watch the boats coming and going. Table with two chairs for sitting/eating at. Supplied with porridge pots, oat bars & orange juice for breakfast. Small fridge supplied is really convenient. Fitted wardrobe with hangers. Great shower in the ensuite. Really simple check in process and great they let you in from 12:30pm. Parking space at the front (really handy when parking in Oban can be tricky) and the parking layout is one of the better ones of the guesthouses along this row. Easy walking distance into town. Will definitely be staying here again when we visit with family in the area.

I adore MacKays and highly recommend! Honestly, look no further because you can't beat the price, amenities, and views. The rooms are huge and the views are exceptional. binoculars are even provided to look out onto the water. there is a mini fridge with snacks. tea and coffee are also provided. What a warm welcome and hospitality and check-in/out is easy. The views are amazing and a parking spot is provided. Restaurant recommendations too. The king bed is comfy and the bathroom is also large, nice shower/tub, with toiletries and a hair dryer. I would stay here again and again. Thanks MacKays for a wonderful stay in Oban.

I loved my stay here and hope to come back again. Arrival was super easy with clear instructions from the owners and convenient parking. The house is beautifully decorated and the view from the room was just incredible. I could happily sit there and watch the sea all day. The welcome sherry was a lovely touch and warmed us up after being out in the cold. Thank you!

Absolutely 5 Star all the way around! Location is perfect. You are a comfortable walking distance from not only the center of town you are located also to the castle nearby. Parking is a huge issue in Oban but they offer free parking which is on location. The rooms are beautifully decorated and huge offering amazing seafront views. Coffee, tea and snacks are provided. Getting to and from the Guest House is easy which is appreciated because again although is a quaint and beautiful town it is crowded and congested and having an “oasis” like the Mackay Guest House made our stay there wonderful!
