About Alltavona House

Corran Esplanade runs along Oban's waterfront with views out across the bay towards the hills beyond, and it's here that Alltavona House occupies a stone-built Victorian property, adults-only and looking straight out over the water. Creach Bheinn forms part of the outlook, giving the place a proper Highland backdrop despite being within easy reach of the town itself.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks provided, and mornings start with a full Scottish breakfast. Guests can also make use of the garden, a picnic area and outdoor seating, all making the most of the sea and mountain views, while reception operates around the clock and free WiFi is available throughout. Free on-site parking is provided, which is a genuine convenience given the seafront location.

Oban itself lies a short distance away by road, putting golf, fishing, cycling and walking country within reach, along with watersports, pubs, restaurants and other local entertainment. It's a fitting base for exploring Argyll and Bute, with the West Highland coastline and hills forming the everyday view from the house.

The positive: The views and cleanleness. The breakfast basket was cute but nothing is served warmed or toasted. Otherwise, we were very desapointed. Upon arrival, our room had no toilet paper and no coffee, it was eventually resolved. Our room was very small. Upon enterring the room, in a very small area was; on the left was the showerand on the right an accordion door with a step up to the toilet. When stepping out of the shower, you are stepping out on the bedroom’s carpet. I suspect there is better designed room but we were quite desapointed with ours.

We enjoyed our stay at Alltavona House. It’s a wonderful location walkable to everything in Oban. The twin room was nice but felt a little tight for two people and bags. The shower leaked all over the floor requiring the use of a towel on the floor to absorb all the water every shower. We had to wring out the towel after each shower because it got so wet. We had to park on the street during our stay as there was no parking spaces left. Street parking is 10.60 day. No breakfast included. Overall, a nice stay.

Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Conveniently located within walking distance of everything, with some parking available on-site. The shower was hot with great pressure. Friendly staff. My only issue was a very bright light shining through the curtains all night, which I had already raised with the staff upon checking out

Traditional guest house with friendly staff. Breakfast was continental and not a cooked breakfast. Room was very well appointed and comfortable. View from the front rooms was stunning, even in rain. Short 10 minute walk to the town centre. Would recommend to anyone.
