No17 The Promenade

We recently stayed at No.17 The Promenade and found it to be a bit of a mixed experience. The location is excellent, with convenient parking and beautiful sea views. The hotel itself is stunning, with luxurious décor throughout, and the restaurant is equally impressive. The food was excellent, albeit on the expensive side. The staff were consistently attentive, friendly and easy to talk to, which was greatly appreciated. We paid extra for an upgraded sea view room (Room 16) and, unfortunately, this is where the experience fell short for us. While the room had lovely décor, high ceilings and a fantastic rainfall shower, it felt surprisingly small for the price. The sea view window was quite small and positioned to one side of the room, meaning the view wasn’t easily enjoyed from the bed as we had expected. The en-suite also had a persistent urine smell, which meant we had to keep the window open. The mini fridge was a nice touch, though real milk would have been preferable to the small milk capsules provided. Another disappointment was the noise in the early mornings. On two of our three mornings, we were woken from around 6am by staff conversations carrying through the hotel, including colleagues calling out to one another. While we understand preparations need to be made for the day ahead, it was disruptive and impacted the quality of our stay. Overall, while the hotel is undeniably beautiful and the staff were excellent, we felt that the room we received did not justify the price we paid. We would happily return to dine in the restaurant, but we would not choose to stay overnight again. For us, the cost and the accommodation simply weren’t aligned.

This is a lovely boutique hotel with well appointed rooms and lounge/bar. The food here is really good, especially the breakfast (the black pudding is the best I’ve ever had). Aysha on the front desk was just lovely, and very informative and helpful, you’d think it was her hotel the way she is SO enthusiastic and engaging. Do stay here, you won’t be disappointed!

Lovely decor, reception staff perfunctory. Bar staff very good. Rooms very small although well done and all facilities but crammed in. Could hear noise from next room. Good drinks menu. Food was good but very modest portions. Did not feel it was good value but Oban seems expensive for some reason.

My mom and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time! The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We ate at the restaurant our first night here and the food was delicious! The breakfast is also amazing (I highly recommend the French toast!) The view from the restaurant and room is gorgeous, and it’s a very short walk to the town center. The hotel was very peaceful, clean, and relaxing. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend no. 17!!
