About George Oxford Hotel

George Street puts you within walking distance of Oxford's historic centre, with its colleges, pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues all close by, and a golf course also reachable nearby for those wanting to venture a little further. It's a practical base for exploring the city on foot, without needing to rely on a car.

George Oxford Hotel offers straightforward, modern rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and tea and coffee-making facilities, plus free WiFi throughout. It operates as a bed and breakfast, so the focus is on comfortable, simple accommodation rather than extras, though concierge and business services are available for guests who need them, along with luggage storage for those arriving early or leaving late.

There's no parking on site, so it suits guests arriving by train or on foot rather than by car. With restaurants, a bar and pub life all within easy reach on the doorstep, it works well as a convenient, unfussy place to sleep between days spent taking in Oxford's sights.

The only good point was the location. It is right in the heart of Oxford city centre, so it is very convenient for getting around. There was also a kettle and some tea bags in the room. Apart from that, the stay was quite disappointing. There is no lift, so carrying a large suitcase up three floors was difficult. The room was extremely small, and the bed was so large for the space that the wardrobe door could barely open. There were clear stains on the carpet, walls, and other areas, so the room did not feel clean. For what it offered, it felt very overpriced. It was also a bit hard to find because there are other hotels nearby with similar names. Although a 24-hour reception was advertised and confirmed by staff, there was nobody there when we checked out at 7am. None of the phone numbers left at reception were answered, and there was no reply to messages either. In the end, we had to leave the key in the room and go. The tea bags that had been used were also not replaced the next day.

Walls so thick you can hear the breathing of those sleeping next to them, fans outside the window blowing air from the kitchen and bar located underneath the hotel, and wallpaper peeling off the walls are just the main reasons not to use this place. The price-to-quality ratio here is a robbery.

Great location but expensive for the quality of stay. £107 for one night I expect a much larger TV - could barely see it from the bed. The water pressure in the shower was 10/10 though

A hotel which was very conveniently located in the city. The room was was very clean and toiletries provided including shower caps. A generous supply of coffee and tea and also biscuits provided Staff were very pleasant. There was noise at night outside which was only to be expected though in a city and especially as a Friday night when we stayed. There are several good pubs near which was ideal for breakfast and meals. Also near the Oxford canal where there is a lovley walk.
