Vanbrugh House Hotel

**Title: Excellent stay—peaceful, cool, and wonderful service!** I recently stayed at this hotel with my son, and we had a fantastic experience. I want to sincerely thank the team for honoring my requests for a quiet, lower-floor room facing the inner courtyard. It was perfectly tucked away from the street and pub noise, providing us with the privacy and peaceful environment we needed. They also kindly provided a fan to ensure the room stayed cool, which made for a very comfortable sleep. The service went above and beyond: we were able to store our luggage upon our early arrival, and when we returned later in the afternoon to check in, the staff had already moved all of our luggage into our room for us. Such a thoughtful and amazing surprise! The service truly stood out during our visit. I would like to specifically commend the two receptionists Juan, Abhishek on duty and the hotel manager; they were all incredibly helpful, welcoming, and professional throughout our stay. We were very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet and well-managed place to stay. We look forward to returning!

This hotel was somewhat disappointing. The location is exceptional, around the corner from everything you want to see. The staff is very kind and accommodating and they definitely made our stay pleasant. However the state of the hotel does not justify the price point. Firstly, the pictures shown online are not representative of what you will likely end up getting; an old, small room which at times felt a bit unclean. They photographed one nice room and that’s all you will see online of this hotel. The furniture is very old fashioned and needs to be replaced, the bed is small and with a hard mattress and very uncomfortable pillows. The room has multiple stains (even on the bed sheets) and a wallpaper that is peeling off. The bathroom shower doors are crusty, water pressure very low, multiple rusty spots everywhere. The building is pretty old, charming, however can get quite noisy in the room (though we did not particularly mind it). Good heating system and we had plenty of coffees, teas, cookies, lots of free waters too. The room has a smart tv which is also a nice plus. Unfortunately not worth the money and felt a bit scammed by the pictures online

Quite disappointing overall. The staff were not helpful or hospitable at all. The room was cramped with pieces of furniture that were too big for the size of the room. Very dark and tired looking. The coffee cups did not fit the coffee maker (too large to fit under). We arrived to find we were on the top floor with no lift. We asked if someone could help with our luggage and we were told sorry no! When we got up to the room one of the lightbulbs was burnt out when I let them know it seemed to be quite an inconvenience /ordeal for the man at reception. It was more like a very bad B&B style accommodation without the breakfast included (instead you pay 20 pounds). In the morning, I took a peek at the breakfast offered and did it not look appealing at all - definitely not worth the money so we ate elsewhere. The only thing going for the Vanbrugh House Hotel is location. We would not stay there again.

Posted 7/22/2026 - Currently staying at the Vanbrugh for 2 nights while on holiday. Very disappointed! Location is great and room is spacious and clean but not very comfortable. No air conditioning and they only provide one tiny little fan to keep the room cook. Obviously this is a huge failure! Asked if they had a floor fan they could provide. Was told no. They don't have a small refrigerator in the room to keep your beverages cool either. Yoy would think at over $300 USD per night they could afford to run over to the shopping mall and buy some damn floor fans or window air conditioners! Won't ever stay here again and would suggest you don't either if you want to be comfortable.
