About Travelodge Oxford Wheatley
Travelodge Oxford Wheatley works best for road-trippers, overnight stopovers and anyone wanting a no-frills base near Oxford without city-centre parking hassles. Positioned off the M40 close to Shotover Country Park, it suits drivers passing through as much as visitors planning a day in the city, with free on-site parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The hotel has 36 rooms across two floors, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in room, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. Rooms tend to be a good size with comfortable beds, though some have been found poorly kept and with lingering odours, so it's worth flagging any issues on arrival. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to offsetting the maintenance niggles.
There's a KFC nearby for food, an electric vehicle charge point on site, 24-hour reception for flexible check-in, and pets are welcome. It's a straightforward, practical option for anyone who wants a bed, parking and easy access to Oxford and Shotover Country Park without paying for extras.

What guests say
We recently had a very disappointing experience with Travelodge. We had booked 20(!) rooms under the saver (non-refundable) rate. Unfortunately, due to serious issues with the room standards, the guests were unable to stay. We documented the problems with photographs and contacted customer service immediately. While we understand the difference between saver and flexible rates, this was not simply a change of plans. The rooms were not used due to quality concerns, and the situation required significant time and resources on our side to manage. Despite explaining the circumstances and providing evidence, Travelodge refused to consider any goodwill gesture — no partial refund, no credit toward a future stay, and no meaningful compromise. Instead, we were left with unused rooms, considerable frustration, and no resolution. Based on this experience, we will not book with Travelodge in the future.

Stayed last night. The woman working there knocked on my door at 12pm on the dot, check out time. Felt monitored and singled out. She then proceeded to stare at me and linger around me as I took my bags out to my car. Intimidatory character who I didn't want to interact with as I could sense she was a bully. Totally unpleasant experience. Staying at Travelodge recently due to a domestic abuse situation and an unbearably tough period of my life. Maybe have empathy for your guests instead of trying to upset them for literally no reason. Paid in full for family room, and regret the expense and experience. Horrible.

I stayed in this travelodge for 3 nights due to my work, now i cant deny that the receptionist were very helpful and i slept well the first 2 nights, But like most reviews on here the entire place is filthy and stinks there are stains on the carpet and bedsheets, and on the third day after my work shift i found a flea on my bed i was able to catch it and kill it, i checked the rest of the room and it seemed as though that was the only one, until at around midnight i felt something bite my leg so i jumped out of bed to see a flea crawling up my leg which i caught and through in the bathroom sink and filmed to have proof. Would not recommend staying here and if you do book a room here cancel it immediately and find somewhere else.
