Couples and solo travellers wanting genuine seclusion will find Wisteria Lodge suited to them. The cottage sits alone in the Gwaun Valley, surrounded by steep wooded hillsides, ancient bluebell woods and a river where otters, herons and kingfishers live. Everything is on the ground floor: an open-plan living space with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped for cooking, a double bedroom, and a wet room with shower. The grounds are fully enclosed, with pathways leading through the property and into the woodland beyond—you can walk straight out to the Gwaun waterfalls through trees carpeted with bluebells in May.
Essentials are covered: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, and logs are provided from October to April. There is private parking on site and one well-behaved pet is welcome. The garden is pretty enough for breakfast outdoors or an evening drink, though there is no smoking in the property. A short drive away lie Newport beach and the town of Cardigan, while boat trips spotting dolphins run from New Quay. The valley itself is excellent walking country, with good chances of seeing buzzards and other wildlife.
