Couples and small families after genuine seclusion will find Marble Lodge hard to beat. The detached cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom serving the whole property. Everything is on the ground floor, making it accessible and straightforward to manage with children or older guests. A wood-burning stove warms the living room where Freeview and a DVD player provide evening entertainment, while the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, hob, dishwasher and all the basics you'd need for self-catering. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer means you can travel light. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; the water comes from a natural spring.
The lodge sits five miles up a private road through Glen Tilt, deep in Perthshire hill country within the Cairngorms National Park. The River Tilt runs alongside the property, and fly fishing is available on-site for those who want it—though simply watching salmon make their way upstream is spectacle enough. Walks range from gentle riverside rambles to serious hill days tackling local Munros. A front garden with seating looks out over the surrounding landscape. There is parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome. The nearest town is Perth, though Blair Castle and the broader Atholl Estates, with over 50 miles of marked routes through woodland and open country, are the real draw nearby.

We stayed at Marble Lodge for six nights. The draw was its location and EV charger. The former did not disappoint, the latter was not working on arrival. It is located far from another house in some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. It is the perfect location for walkers. But the lodge itself is tired, leaking, dirty in places (see photos) and uncomfortable. The double bed just about fit my husband and me (and we are not very large!) and was broken on one side. The roof was leaking. The flooring is stained and old. The radiators, curtains, bathroom blind, oven and cobwebs need a good clean. Bottled water is provided for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth. I find this poor in 2026, having lived many years in sub-Saharan Africa where you could at least tooth brush with the tap water! The EV charger wasn't working on arrival (on a Sunday). The office was closed and had to wait to Monday to report it. By Tuesday, still no charge for our car and it was eating into our holiday; luckily we worked it out ourselves! I also tried to book some activities, but no one ever got back to me. So, don't expect much engagement from the owners if you need something. As I said, location is amazing. It also has a dishwasher and washing machine, which is great if you're there with kids. But overall, it needs a deep clean, a light refurb and a new double bed!

This is a cosy and comfortable cottage in a dramatic setting. Very warm in winter with a generous supply of wood for the open fire. What an excellent setting to enjoy a wee dram! Great walks directly from the door.
