About Birchwood Hotel

Birchwood Hotel suits travellers after a quieter, more personal stay rather than a big chain experience - couples on a short break, golfers working through the local course, or anyone using Pitlochry as a base for walking and fishing. With just 12 rooms, it has the feel of a place where the staff know the guests rather than the other way round.

Rooms are en-suite and comfortably decorated, and the hotel's shared spaces, including a library and lounge, give guests somewhere to settle beyond their room. Downstairs there's a restaurant serving freshly prepared food with a strong vegan selection, plus a bar stocked with local drinks. Breakfast is included, free WiFi runs throughout, and there's a lift, 24 hour reception, and free on-site parking for those arriving by car.

Outside, Pitlochry itself is under half a mile away, with the golf course close by along with fishing, walking routes, and further pubs and restaurants in town. It's a straightforward, well-run small hotel rather than a destination in itself, but for a base to explore Highland Perthshire it does the job comfortably.

We had a perfect stay at Birchwood Bed and Breakfast. It is a very beautiful place and I hope to return someday! Our room was very quiet and lovely, apparently recently updated. Our bed and linens were very comfortable and clean as well as the fluffy towels. Dean and Paul were very welcoming and helpful. They helped us with our trip plans with good advice and tips. We had a very delicious dinner one night. Dessert was perfect! Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. There were lots of snacks available including homemade baked goods. We really had a perfect visit to Birchwood in Pitlochry. I wish we could have stayed longer!

The hotel is beautiful, traditional architecture with a contemporary touch. It has a very warm and welcoming feeling. The whole hotel is great and with all the amenities that you need, great rooms, comfortable bed and clean bathrooms. The food is all freshly cooked and is full of flavour. There are also little touches that set this hotel apart from the rest… fragrance in every room, little sweet treats left in your room and a sweet pantry that you can help yourself from if you fancy a sweet treat before bed or just a snack. Dean and Paul were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble and offered advice for our onward journey around Scotland. After a somewhat poor night at another hotel in Pitlochry, the Birchwood offered a welcomed and relaxed retreat! An amazing find and an honestly great stay.

Dean and Paul made me feel at home right from the start, taking the trouble to show me around the hotel and to my bedroom. Room was excellent, nice and quiet and kept lovely and clean. Location is superb, just on the edge of the town, easy walking distance. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Evening meals also available from a menu of lovely freshly prepared and locally sourced food. Complimentary snacks available at any time of day. Well stocked very comfortable bar / lounge area with a fine selection of whiskies. A really relaxed vibe to the hotel, lots of flexibility on meal times. Dean and Paul are great hosts, I highly recommend Birchwood Pitlochry and I will certainly be returning.

A wonderful overnight break! A last-minute decision to stay over in Pitlochry to go hillwalking resulted in a serendipitous discovery - The Birchwood Hotel! Great first impression driving in then walking into the hotel. A warm welcome from Dean, who showed us around. Very tasteful choice of art and colours, blending traditional and modern beautifully. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of little touches made the stay memorable: lovely bar and library, ace choice of drinks, fantastic breakfast, little nibbles in the upstairs hallway, artisan soaps and lotions. We'd booked a restaurant in town on a friend's recommendation but will be dining at Birchwood next stay as the evening meals looked amazing. Above all, Dean and Paul were outstanding hosts and have created something very special.
