Haven Hotel

This hotel is in a beautiful location. If you love watching birds and boats and waves, it can't be bettered. We stayed in a standard room which was bigger than I expected. Although dated, and with rather dull decor, I found the hotel to be very clean and everything worked, albeit sometimes in a rather eccentric way. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. I very much enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub. The breakfast was entirely buffet, which is fine, but one might expect some freshly cooked options at a hotel of this rating. It was good, but no better than you'd get at many chain hotels. Dinner was variable. On our first night we were disappointed to be told the dish we chose wasn't available only when we ordered it - normal practice is to give this information as you hand menus to customers. Apart from one rather tough burger, however, the food was good - though the Thai curry sauce and Jerk seasoning had no heat to them at all, they were still very tasty, and the desserts were excellent. I was surprised that the menu stayed the same for three nights in a row. There are other restaurants close by, and I would probably not have eaten here after that first disappointing evening if I hadn't been with my elderly mother. The bar is a lovely place to sit for a pre-dinner drink and clearly popular as a meeting place. This hotel is ideal for someone who wants a quiet, beautiful location above all else. The standard rooms are good value for money and there is lots of space to sit, outside or in, and admire the wonderful views.

At first impression, when we arrived at the parking area and found the entrance from the car park closed, we thought we might not have chosen the right place. Upon entering the reception, everything looked rather old-fashioned and traditional, which again made us wonder if the hotel was the right fit for us. However, the staff quickly changed our impression. They were friendly and welcoming, inviting us to enjoy the hotel's facilities, including the clean heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the outdoor pool was heated to 31°C), the sauna, and the jacuzzi. Our room was clean, well-stocked, and featured a balcony with a beautiful view of the harbour and ferry terminal. It was a lovely spot to relax with a drink while watching boats of all sizes passing by. Although there were a few minor maintenance issues, nothing significantly affected our stay. The breakfast selection was not extensive, but the food was good. Dinner was also enjoyable and reasonably priced, although reservations were required. The highlights of our stay were the swimming pools, the friendly and helpful staff, the sandy beach right next to the hotel, and the peaceful, quiet atmosphere. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Really lovely afternoon tea + Prosecco at the Haven Hotel. Located right at the seafront adjacent to the Sandbanks chain ferry, this hotel has fabulous restaurant sea views from the Needles on the IOW to the Old Harry Rocks and Purbecks. There is plenty of free parking but don’t forget to register your car’s number plate on arrival. Both the food and service were great and we will certainly return.

This hotel is fine. The room is comfortable and clean. The hotel is very dated, and run down. The breakfast was really poor, everything was overcooked. Also poor vegetarian options. The pool area is again run down and the staff were overbearing. The staff in the bar were rude and dismissive. Staff on reception were friendly enough. Wouldn’t stay here again.
