Bailey Cottage

The Brecon Beacons are on your doorstep here—moorland for long walks, valleys to explore, and enough space to breathe. Hay-on-Wye, famous for its secondhand bookshops and restaurants, is 5 miles away. A pub sits within a mile of Bailey Cottage itself, and a shop and restaurant are less than 500 yards off. The area draws people for walking, fishing and the kind of escape that requires actual distance from everyday life.

This is a converted 16th-century barn given over entirely to your group. Five bedrooms sleep ten: doubles, singles, and a flexible sleeping space. Three bathrooms serve the lot, including one with a roll-top bath. The ground floor holds an open-plan living and dining kitchen, where you can cook properly, plus a games room with a pool table and dartboard. Upstairs, a second living room has a wood burner and views. The enclosed garden has a hot tub, lawn, furniture and a barbecue. One dog can stay free, kept on lead. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided; the heating runs on biomass.

Suited to family groups or friends taking a week together rather than couples or small parties. No smoking throughout. There is a stream in the owner's garden, worth noting if you have young children.

A beautiful cottage adjacent to the owners ' house. There's a well equipped kitchen, a games room with pool and darts, and a hot tub. There's a little children's playground. 6 adults and 3 children had a very comfortable weekend, spending more time indoors than we planned because we had rubbish weather. We really liked the Harp Inn in Glasbury.

Visit on an annual basis and love it - beautiful, peaceful surroundings, friendly hosts, stream to paddle in, friendly dogs too! All amenities that you might want plus some - hot tub is amazing. Spacious and entertaining space.

Absolutely wonderful cottage. Great place to escape. We were group of 5 and there is just so much space here. There's a games room with darts, a pool table and piano. A very well equiped kitchen with 2 huge tables and a cozy snug. There's a huge loft room with a woodburing fire aswell as 5 bedrooms and a sofa bed in the larger living room. The hot tub was an added bonus too. The owners live next door and are very helpful and friendly but give you plenty of privacy and there are 2 beautiful friendly and very well behaved working dogs who we loved. We are already planning a return trip as we didn't want to leave when our 4 night break was coming to an end. Absolute bliss here.

Bailey Cottage is a wonderful, well-appointed rustic cottage in the picturesque Brecon Beacons. At less than 10 minutes from Hay-on-Wye, access to the home of second hand bookshops is a breeze. You will be greeted on arrival by your hosts Joe and Ben, and their human owners David and Sharon, who are extremely welcoming and accommodating. I cannot recommend a stay here highly enough.
