Builth Wells sits at the edge of the Brecon Beacons, and Magpie is positioned 8 miles into the countryside beyond it, in a secluded valley surrounded by woodland and natural grounds. The cottage is one of several barn conversions on a 3-acre site, which you'll have to yourself but share access to the communal facilities and landscape with other guests staying in the complex.
The ground-floor layout keeps everything accessible: an open-plan living space with sofa bed and dining area, a kitchen equipped for self-catering, a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room, and a separate bathroom. All-in amenities mean electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. The utility room (shared) has a washing machine and tumble dryer; a cot is available if needed. Two parking spaces come with the property.
The grounds are the main draw. There's an indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, a games room with a console and TV, a 6-hole mini golf course, fishing in the on-site lake (100 yards away; licence required), a children's play area, garden furniture and a BBQ. Walking trails wind through the woods; red kites and other wildlife are commonly seen. The nearest shops are 5 miles away; pubs and restaurants are in Builth Wells, 8 miles back towards town. No smoking is permitted inside.

Beautiful place - I come back here every year as it is so beautiful and peaceful. Emma and Amy are very welcoming. Everything is very tidy and clean and I enjoy the walks and swimming in the pool. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had an amazing time at the cottages, such a good relax and in such a stunning location. You can just sit for hours and watch the cows and sheep in the hills or the birds flying around the pond and trees. We will definitely be visiting again that's for sure. 👌 The pool was really warm and the sauna was a nice touch. The rooms were lovely and really clean and well presented. The one and only negative thing was our DVD player did not work in the cottage but you didn't really need it with the amazing scenery and included Freeview. 😊

Fab gem - A great stay here at Lake cottages we had the robin Studio cottage and it was perfect. Everything you need for a self catering break was supplied. The cottage was clean. The bed comfortable. The location is absolutely amazing the surroundings breathtaking a wonderful break with family. We enjoyed using the fire pit and toasted our marshmallows of a evening and having breakfast outside with the hillside views priceless absolutely fab place to stay I would give 10 stars so as you can see I highly recommend it🤗 there was only one tiny criticism the games Room was slightly disappointing. I was told they were things missing , IE pool table balls & couple of other things . But this is my only criticism. There was no one on reception when we discovered this and then had forgotten to mention it on our return the next day so maybe some member of staff can check the games room and it’s facilities Thankyou lake cottages we will return ☺️

We absolutely love coming here, it never fails to blow us away! The accommodation is always warm on arrival and immaculate. The views are good for the soul and the indoor pool and games room are an extra bonus. All the staff are warm and friendly. We can’t wait to book again for next year!
