About Ibis Reading Centre

A generous breakfast spread and an on-site bar are among the strong points at Ibis Reading Centre, on Friar Street in the heart of Reading. The restaurant serves food throughout the day, including options for children, while the bar and snack bar cover drinks and lighter bites for anyone not venturing out into the city.

Rooms are straightforward and comfortable, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks available on request; some rooms offer city views. Accessible rooms are available, along with a lift, room service and laundry service, and staff are on hand to help with luggage. Air conditioning performance has been known to vary, so it is worth bearing in mind in warmer weather. There is no parking at the property, so guests arriving by car will need to make alternative arrangements.

The hotel's location near the train station and city centre makes it an easy base for exploring Reading, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment all close by, plus a golf course nearby for those wanting to venture a little further. Pets are welcome, making it a practical choice for guests travelling with animals.

I had a positive experience during my stay at Ibis Reading Centre. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for both relaxation and work. The staff were polite, friendly, and always willing to help. I would especially like to highlight the hotel’s convenient location and high standard of service. The breakfast selection was the same each day; however, the food was always fresh and tasty. The hotel was well-maintained and kept very clean, which made the stay particularly comfortable. I would like to thank the staff at Ibis Reading Centre for their hospitality and excellent service. I would be happy to stay here again in the future and would gladly recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Great central location, a very clean room, and good breakfast for the price. Some staff members were kind and helpful. However, the room was small and lacked basic amenities like a fridge, coffee maker, and iron. The elevator frequently broke down, forcing us to walk to the 14th floor several times. Some staff were unfriendly and rarely greeted guests, and the reception often smelled of heated pizza. Overall, it felt more like a 2-star hotel.

I booked this last minute because it was the only place near the station that had a double available. I was placed in an accessible room on the 14th floor (unfortunate because I’d hurt my back and everything was lower!). The room was not dirty but was not well maintained. There was what looked like an unsuccessfully cleaned vomit stain on the sofa and the sliding door to the bathroom kept getting stuck. Pretty unpleasant but it was there and provided a place to sleep. I would choose somewhere else next time.

I had pretty low expectations due to the price but they were all exceeded! The team member who checked us in was friendly and very helpful, the room was clean, comfortable and quiet and the location was absolutely perfect. Also the breakfast was much better quality than I’ve had in other hotel chains. Overall a great experience and I would recommend booking if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Reading.
