About pentahotel Reading
The bar and lounge at pentahotel Reading are as much a draw as the rooms themselves, with a vibrant atmosphere and free games laid on for guests who fancy sticking around after dinner rather than heading straight upstairs. There's a restaurant and snack bar too, along with breakfast served on site, so there's little need to venture out for meals unless you want to.
The 206 rooms are spacious and stylishly designed, with large beds and air conditioning, and drinks are available in-room for those who prefer to unwind privately. That said, some rooms have been reported as not always well maintained, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the otherwise strong value for money. Guests also have access to a gym and a spa with sauna, and the hotel welcomes pets, making it a flexible base for different kinds of stays.
Set on Oxford Road, the hotel is within easy reach of the River Thames and Reading Abbey, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. Free on-site parking and airport transfer options add practical convenience, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to making up for the odd rough edge in the rooms.

What guests say
Great hotel with clean spacious room, friendly staff and delicious breakfast buffet. The decor is beautiful, arty and contemporary. This hotel is far better than any other better known mid-budget range hotel chains. We will definitely choose to stay in Pentahotel if there’s one in the destination. Highly recommended.

Really lovely hotel, great location for where we needed to be, but the staff let the place down. When we arrived and were asked about breakfast, we couldn’t get a clear answer on vegan options available. We then later discovered there was lots available for dairy free/vegan after the rest of our party had gone to breakfast the next morning. Had we known this, we would have booked breakfast. We also spent the whole first night with no air con, reported this to front desk in the morning, where we were told someone would look at it and if it couldn’t be fixed we would be able to move rooms. We had made them aware we would be out all day. When we got back, the new staff on the desk had no idea what we were talking about. When we got up to our room, quite a few of our key cards wouldn’t work (we were a party of 24) and when I went down to ask for help, I was made to feel like I was in the wrong and was asked by the person at the desk if I was “actually holding the card up to the door”. The air cooling system then still did not work when we got into our room and we were then told we couldn’t move. We explained the conversation we had this morning with another member of staff, which it seemed he did not want to believe. The gentleman also kept leaving us at the desk to have other conversations with colleagues, but we managed to move rooms at midnight. When I asked for help moving our stuff, I was told no. Over all, I had a lovely stay, but I feel the service let them down.
