About Travelodge Reading Central

Broad Street Mall is close by for shopping, and Reading Station is within reach too, making Travelodge Reading Central a practical base for exploring the town centre or connecting onward by train. Nearby pubs and bars, plus other entertainment options in the area, mean there's plenty to do once the day's business or sightseeing is done.

The hotel itself has 107 rooms spread across five floors, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in the room, with accessible rooms also on offer. A restaurant on site covers meals without needing to venture out, and a 24 hour reception means arrivals and queries are handled at any time. A lift serves all floors, and pets are welcome for those travelling with animals. It's worth noting that some rooms have been described as tired and prone to noise, so light sleepers might want to request a quieter spot.

There's no parking at the hotel itself, but Q-Park Chatham Place on Chatham Street is a four minute walk away for those arriving by car, and an electric vehicle charge point is also available. Staff are consistently noted as friendly, which helps smooth over the practical business of checking in and settling for the night.

I have been in this hotel for 2 weeks, in July 2026. Very good experience, all considered. Yes, rooms at 4th floor are very warm, and yes you can't open the window as wide you would want, and yes there is no fridge. Who cares. Room was clean, no smell, no noise, decent noise-proof walls, remarkable, perfect bed, good shower. People who complain about this hotel better they stay at some 4 stars and pay double. I would return, yes, 100%,

Where do I even start… upon arrival this place was impossible to find as it’s covered in scaffolding. There is no car park so I was forced to park half a mile away and try and navigate my way through the busy and dangerous streets of Reading at night. Luckily I made it to the room without getting robbed or attacked, or so I thought. Once I got past the mouldy and rotten corridors and into my room on the top floor. I thought I had entered the sauna or steam room. The room was rotten, outdated and unclean. A rotten musk filled my nostrils. I decided to have a shower to cool down and clean all the sweat this room had caused me. After pulling back the rotten and mouldy shower curtains I was greeted with what only looked like a cage you would keep diseased dogs in. Ones that had rabies. I somehow felt dirty coming out of the shower. This is hands down the worst hotel stay in my entire life.

Holy hell has this Travelodge gone downhill fast. I've stayed here a few times over the past couple of years and my most recent stay was abysmal. So for starters the hallway carpets were soaked, full on squelching as you walk on them. The room was dry but also showed lots of signs of wear and damp patches. The worst part though was the heat in the room, there are 2 sets of windows and the outer windows don't open, a small fan was provided and on in the room so they're aware it's a problem. But it's completely unsafe on hot days, I actually started getting serious heat exhaustion bordering on heat stroke in the room in the morning. After being sick in the toilet of the room, I actually ended up going into the slightly cooler hallway and collapsed on the hallway floor topless covered in sweat. The cleaning staff saw this but ignored it and carried on cleaning the neighbouring room. I couldn't even take a cold shower to help as there is one option in the shower "on" which is hot water. I paid for late check out as I was anticipating a late start, I checked out before the end of normal checkout because it was just unbearably bad.

First time staying in reading but this hotel needs an update bad. The bed isnt the best and the TVs are to small to even see. And no plugs socket close to the bed. On the other side of the bed. It was clean tbf but would be amazing if was updated. The service was good.
