About Mercure Salisbury White Hart Hotel

The White Hart has stood on St John Street since the 1600s, its distinctive white colonnaded portico facing directly onto Cathedral Close and giving it one of the best positions of any hotel in Salisbury. Now run as a Mercure hotel, it combines the Georgian public rooms of the original coaching inn with a large number of bedrooms, including a range of self-catering apartments in an adjoining building.

Bedrooms are decorated in a fairly standard contemporary style rather than leaning heavily on the building's history, though the lounge and bar retain more of the original character. The location means every room is within a couple of minutes of the cathedral gate, and the hotel's restaurant and bar are a popular stop for both guests and passers-by.

As a larger, well-known chain hotel, the White Hart suits visitors who want a predictable standard of room and service in the most central possible location, with on-site parking a further advantage in a part of the city where street parking is scarce.

Upon arrival, I received a free upgrade which was great. The bed was huge (2 beds pushed together) and comfortable. The room had both heating and air conditioning and everything worked. I was happy with the storage facilities available as well as the TV. Though some aspects of the room could have done with a freshen up, such as marks on the walls and some wear and tear, it was great value for money. I would stay here again and would recommend to a friend who wanted a safe, clean, and budget friendly hotel. The staff were also super friendly.

Recently stayed and cannot fault. The room I was staying in was very well appointed and very good air conditioning (a must in the heatwave!). Staff were friendly, very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the local area. The hotel is situated in an ideal location for the historic city centre and only a few minutes walk from the famous cathedral. Absolutely recommended.

We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and cannot recommend it enough. The location is absolutely perfect, making it incredibly easy to explore everything Salisbury has to offer. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. A huge bonus for us was how genuinely dog-friendly they are, our pup was treated with so much kindness! My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer because we had to continue our journey. We are already planning to return to Salisbury in the future, and we will definitely be staying at this hotel again. Highly recommended!

Excellent service from Sharron, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. She really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had a great experience. The hotel offers some truly fantastic apartments, furnished to a very high standard. We had originally booked a Privilege Room, which was also very well appointed, but due to an unfortunate issue with the air conditioning, we were kindly upgraded to one of the apartments — and it was outstanding. Both the rooms and apartments have a real high-end feel, with excellent design touches and great features throughout. When functioning, the air conditioning worked very well. The apartment kitchens are extremely well equipped, and the living room setup was excellent, with a large TV and a big, comfortable sofa that made it very relaxing to spend time in. I would strongly recommend this hotel not only because of the quality of the rooms and apartments, but also because of the genuinely kind, welcoming, and helpful staff.
