What diners say
An unforgettable experience at The Nightjar! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely magical – elegant, intimate, and full of character. The cocktails were outstanding, beautifully presented, and unlike anything we’ve had before. A very special thank you to Luana, who made our evening truly exceptional. She was incredibly warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. Her recommendations were perfect, and her friendly personality made us feel so welcome throughout the entire evening. Excellent service, amazing drinks, and a unique atmosphere – everything was simply perfect. We will definitely be back and highly recommend The Nightjar to anyone looking for a memorable night out. Thank you, Luana, for making our visit so special! 😁😁😁

First time visiting Nightjar, and although it's on the main road, it's surprisingly difficult to find. There's no obvious signage—just a small plaque on the door. If you're looking for it, it's right next to KFC. I recognised the doorman from one of Nightjar's Instagram videos, so I knew I was in the right place. We'd booked a table for two because we both enjoy jazz and wanted to try somewhere different. My friend arrived about five minutes before me and was shown downstairs straight away. When I arrived, I confirmed the booking name and the doorman acknowledged that my friend had already gone in. Despite that, I was asked to wait outside for around three minutes while they confirmed there was still a table available and that I wasn't an unexpected third guest. It felt a little unnecessary and wasn't the best first impression. Once I was allowed in, I mentioned my disappointment to the host downstairs. She apologised and explained that she hadn't been able to hear the doorman properly, which caused the delay. Fair enough, but it did take away from the welcome. The venue itself is quirky, intimate, and has a lovely 1940s vibe. It was comfortably busy on a Saturday without feeling overcrowded, and the air conditioning made it a pleasant place to spend the evening. The only downside is the washroom—it's very small, so it's very much a one-in, one-out situation although there 2 toilet. The cocktail presentation is fantastic, with some really creative glassware and garnishes. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't quite live up to the presentation. I tried the Harvey Wallbanger, which tasted a little like watered-down vodka, although the tiny surfer decoration was a fun touch. I also had the Heal Me Up, which was much sweeter and syrupy but still nothing particularly memorable. My friend ordered the Old Cuban and the Inca, and the verdict was simply, "They're okay." The live music was the main reason we visited. The performers had great chemistry. Out of the five songs they performed, the Cuban number was by far the highlight for us—it had such great energy that I genuinely wanted to get up and dance. I just wish more of the set had that same spark. Overall, Nightjar has a beautiful, intimate atmosphere that's great for a date or a relaxed evening with friends. However, for a venue that's known for live jazz, I expected the music and cocktails to leave a stronger impression. The average cocktails, and disappointing arrival experience mean it's not somewhere I'd choose to return to.

Really good fun. Wonderful atmosphere, great live music and expect a bit of theatre with some of the cocktails. Friendly service too.. Cocktails start at £14 so it's not a cheap night but worth it.
