About Hotel Riviera
Hotel Riviera occupies one of the finest positions on Sidmouth's Esplanade, its white Regency façade a landmark on the seafront since the resort's Georgian heyday. Individually decorated bedrooms make the most of the setting, with many looking directly out over Lyme Bay, and the hotel has long traded on a reputation for traditional, attentive service in a genuinely elegant setting.
The restaurant carries an AA 2-Rosette award and focuses on fresh seafood and West Country produce, served in a dining room with views to match the food, while afternoon tea on the terrace is a popular ritual for residents and visitors alike. The hotel also has function space for events and celebrations, hosting up to 120 guests.
With valet parking, complimentary Wi-Fi and central heating and air conditioning throughout, it suits guests who want an old-fashioned seaside hotel experience delivered to a high standard, right in the heart of Sidmouth's most photographed stretch of seafront.
What guests say
Standards have deteriorated since previous ownership. If you are happy to pay for below average service and food, then do. Do not expect the Riviera to be the luxury hotel it used to be. The location is excellent and if you are lucky to have a sea view, it is wonderful, although dated interiors.

I had fish and chips here on a Thursday lunchtime in late July. The food came reasonably promptly. The chips were fantastic, but the fish was really a pretty small piece of fish for the money. It tasted fine though. Overall, I enjoyed my meal.

Rooms are unlevel. The floor dips towards the front window. I think the front/ back are different ages. Service excellent. Lift v small. Good location. Food above average. Patio out front for people watching . Expensive. A ramp available for poor walkers.

Lovely and clean. Great location. Simple but good rooms. No Aircon in rooms... but that is a rare need in the UK... we were there during the heatwave typically. Would definitely stay again.
