Bryn Gloch Caravan & Camping Park

We camped here a few years ago with our children and absolutely loved everything about the site, so we read the more recent reviews as we were thinking more long term, and decided to go seasonal in a tourer here last August. Best decision we've made! The staff were very helpful with everything from day one. From helping us position our caravan when we arrived, anchoring, and stopping offering help if we needed anything. The campsite itself is in very well kept, and clean condition, with staff continuously maintaining the grounds and cleaning shared areas regularly. We usually do weekends away, which sadly feels as though it's over before we know it, but we've just had our first full week stay in the school holidays. The children really enjoyed playing in the shallow river in their dinghy to cool off in the heatwave and have made lots of new friends. The Wi-Fi didn't disappoint when they wanted to relax with their favourite shows of an evening or play on their console. We've just returned home yesterday from the best week away and cannot fault a thing, and staff continuously worked hard, even throughout the heatwave. An added bonus is that there is a food van on site which is run by a lovely lady who does the best food... we really enjoy the brekky's - something that we look forward to after having a great night meeting new, and regular families of an evening at the Tipsy Trailer, which is also run by lovely amazing staff. It's nice to meet other staff to of an evening when they finish work and get to have a chat as most sites you don't get that. We've been to many sites in the past and this is definitely the one! 10/10 for Bryn Gloch! On arrival we received a genuine welcome and a sensible straight forward site map. Our pitch was perfect (we requested a quiet spot and wasn’t disappointed) The river flowing through the site is beautiful and has plenty of seating next to the bank to enjoy it fully. Our dog was delighted every time we walked (through the site) because everyone was mindful and had their doggies on a lead too. The site itself is well maintained and the pitches are carefully planned with plenty of space and privacy if needed, however if you did fancy a drink and chat, The Tipsy mobile van was open for business in the evenings. Such a cheeky treat!. We had a great few days (have to quickly mention the fabulous mountain views all around the site) and would happily recommend Bryn Gloch. Again 10/10

We stayed in April for 4 nights. First impression mediocre. We booked a fully serviced grass pitch with awning and we do grass as our swift Basecamp with awning needs room. We have paid £60 a night! Expensive right! For camping these days on a BH weekend this seems to be the going rate. However if we are paying top notch I expect top notch. We are allocated field 3, which is open to all elements. It needs more trees and side hedges to ensure the pitches can have some privacy and also blocking the wind. You have nothing. So even if there is no bad weather it's still very blistery. There was a scheduled storm Dave, which came and destroyed a caravan and at least 4 tents. The caravan which flipped I blame this on the lack of trees. Which is my earlier point above. Pro, we do have a children's area in this field so the kids are happy. Washing facilities poor. Its a tiny sink at the side of the loo. Tepid hot water. But these are huts, if you walk into another field there is more equipped washing facilities. WiFi - poor. EH - basic pin and needs upgrading. Our caravan tripped out this morning and all we had on was the kettle! Never happened before and they are battered which you put your electric hookup into! There are some nice routes which you can walk locally looking forward to trying these. And there is 2 little shacks one which is a bar and another which serves food. Nice touch and they have been used and they are lovely. Not sure I'll be booking this site again for the price and facilities of the pitches for a caravan.

Me and my partner had a weekend camping pitch booked for friday-sunday with the aim to hike snowdon early saturday morning. After my partner finished work late due to her being a nurse, we expected to arrive later than 8pm which is whats stated as the sites last arrival time in their t&c’s, we decided to phone in advance to see if this would be an issue as we had a long journey ahead of us after a long day at work. We spoke to a member of staff on the phone and they assured us it wasn’t a problem that we were arriving late as the site was expecting a lot of arrivals friday night. So we set off filled with excitement for the weekend ahead, after a long journey with unplanned traffic we arrived at the site just shy of 10pm. The excitement was soon drained from us as we were greeted by a member of staff whose name i did not get, we explained we were here to check in for camping. She then shut us down telling us we were not allowed on the site due to it being after 9pm and “quiet time”. We were given two choices, to pitch the tent on what was basically someones garden at front of the site and then dismantle all of the gear and re-check in, in the morning or her words were “theres a travel lodge down the road”. As you can imagine we were very upset with this due to the fact that the member of staff who we spoke to on the phone prior to making the journey down to the site never once mentioned that we would not be allowed on site after 9pm due to “quiet time”. I quote “quiet time” because as this is being explained to us by the woman with no sympathy we could hear and see people laughing and drinking alcohol on the site (rightly so). We tried to explain that we wouldn’t be making any noise as we are only setting a tent up but she was uninterested and continued to state that it says last arrival is 8pm in the t&c’s and no interest in the fact that another staff member has assured us it wasn’t an issue to arrive late. We were shut down at any opportunity to try and voice our point. We didn’t want to stop in a travel lodge as we wanted and paid for the camping experience. As for option 1 we had an electric airbed, cool box full of food and our phones were nearly dead this made the situation even worse. The piece of grass in someones garden which they offered didn’t have an electric supply which meant we had to take our airbed to the nearest toilet block and blow it up which is not ideal at that time of night when we have snowdon in the morning. We also had to stand in the toilet block and wait for our phones to charge. At this time is was 11pm, as we were waiting for our phones to charge another couple arrived at the campsite and informed us they had just spoken with the same people who dealt with us and they said they had cancelled their booking without notification and were given the same advice to “go to the travelodge down the road”, in which the couple ended up having to do as they had a caravan booked. It is a massive shame because once we checked in properly, the site is nice and has clean facilities. However, the service we received from the staff, of which had no sympathy, no understanding and were very dismissive of us, completely ruined the campsite for us. If you are going to stay here, I would make sure you do not arrive later than 8-9pm as you will be dismissed without any care.
