About Stirling Highland Hotel
Stirling Highland Hotel occupies the buildings of the former Old High School of Stirling, a short walk uphill from the town centre and close to the castle esplanade. The Old Town setting means guests are within easy reach of Argyll's Lodging, the Church of the Holy Rude and the Old Town Cemetery, all on foot from the front door.
The hotel retains some of the character of its original use, with high ceilings and traditional detailing in the public areas, alongside a leisure club with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room that suits families and longer stays. Bedrooms are traditionally furnished and vary in size according to the building's original layout.
Scholars Restaurant serves Scottish menus in a former schoolroom setting, and the hotel's elevated position gives some rooms views over the rooftops of the Old Town towards the Ochil Hills.
What guests say
We really enjoyed our stay overall. Room was comfortable, clean and functional. Loved the hotel and its history. Just wished the hotel had a more cohesive theme and the interior matched the exteriors charm as the rooms and most of the hallways had a boring standard hotel feel. We did find some areas of the building that were older and had that charm we were hoping for.

This is a well located hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are excellent. So close to everything and parking is convenient. I really enjoyed this stay. The food in the restaurant was great. Huge variety to choose from.

Great central location and a beautiful historic building with lots of character. The restaurant was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, the hotel itself felt quite cold, the layout is a bit of a labyrinth with many stairs and long hallways, and the shower was disappointing. Overall, a mixed experience — charming in some ways, but less comfortable than we expected.

Parking was fine, you register your car at the front desk like normal. I had requested extras as it was a special occasion and these had been confirmed. Turned up to the room and only 1 out of 2 of the extras where there. Upon looking over the room it was clear to see that no care or consideration was taken in the room. The bathroom (pictures) was a disgrace, mould round the bath, paint peeling off due to the dampness and the fan did not work and there was mould round it. The bedroom was missing the top of the bedside table, the pillows were extremely firm but bed was clean! The view was "urban" and you could see right into the pool, or watch people take bins out. Regarding the windows, the curtains go along the whole wall, which is deceiving, only to open the curtains to a tiny window. There's only lamps, no proper lighting so forget trying to do your make up in the mirror. Did not have a meal at the restaurant, but did have drinks in the library which had a strange sad vibe, no music just tv. Had breakfast and the scrambled eggs could be used to plaster walls! Watched staff members blow on tables to clear crumbs where food was sitting out for people to grab. The staff was reasonable okay, reception where great and quick to resolve the issues I brought to their attention (extras) but I would not recommend staying here to anyone and do wish I had came back home.
