About Travelodge Stirling M80

Sitting right off the motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Travelodge Stirling M80 is built for travellers who need a convenient stop rather than a destination in itself, with the Moto service area's shops and eateries right on the doorstep and both cities within easy driving distance for anyone wanting to extend the trip.

The hotel has 30 rooms across two floors, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in-room, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. Some visitors have found the rooms could do with a bit more care, with occasional odd smells reported, though many describe the beds as comfortable and the rooms clean on arrival. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and reception is staffed around the clock, so late arrivals and early starts are no trouble.

There's an on-site restaurant, and further pubs and eateries nearby within the service area for anyone not keen on cooking or eating in. Free on-site parking is included, with vehicles registered at reception on arrival, and there's an electric vehicle charge point for those driving electric. Pets are welcome too. It's a straightforward, functional base for breaking up a journey along the M80 corridor.

A very unpleasant experience: the room smelled strongly of mold and the carpet was filthy. I booked the room for four nights but unfortunately only stayed for one, as we were forced to leave due to the dirt and mold. There were spiders and cockroaches everywhere, and the smell was unbearable. We tried speaking to the hotel staff to request a refund, but unfortunately, they began insulting us and speaking rudely. I do not recommend this hotel; it is absolutely horrible.

Location and service is great, friendly staff and free parking. However, in my opinion the hotel needs renovated throughout. The corridor carpets were stained and worn. The room we stayed in had mould and smelled fousty. It appeared that the walls had been painted over mould. Carpets stained and worn in bedroom and bathroom flooring was needed replacing also. All the rooms still had a manual key to open, which is a contrast to other Travelodges we have stayed in with the modern key pass for doors.

The hotel is in need of a makeover. The carpets in the corridors looked marked and grubby with duct tape holding it together in places. It didn't give a good first impression. The room was a good size but again it looked tired with paint knocked off skirting and worn out furniture which has seen better days. On the upside the bed was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. There isn't a restaurant for breakfast but there are onsite food outlets. There is a decent size carpark but be aware that you have to register your vehicle on arrival to avoid a fine from a parking shark.

Reception staff were super polite and friendly, smiled every time we come back through the door! Perfect price to pay for what you get, super affordable, tea and coffee facilities ,only loss of 1 star because there was no shower gel in the dispenser for a shower, somebody left their old pizza in the room and the noise of JCB's and major works going on at nearly 10pm, overall thought, very reasonable for the price!
