The Brown House

The Brown House sits at ground level, so there are just four steps to the entrance and then the whole interior flows without stairs. Walk in and you're immediately in the living space: a room with a sofa bed, Freeview TV and DVD player, opening onto a decked area. The dining room and kitchen are next to it, fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. This layout makes it straightforward for families or groups who want to spread out while staying connected.

Three bedrooms are all on the same floor. The first has a king bed with an ensuite bathroom; the second a double; the third two singles. A separate family bathroom serves the rest of the house. Linen, towels, heating, electricity and Wi-Fi are included. Private parking for two cars sits on-site, and a small garden with seating looks out onto the surrounding forestry. The property does not permit smoking.

The Brown House stands on the edge of Hartland Forest, inland from the A39 between Bideford and Bude. The forest itself holds fishing lakes—carp, roach and tench—where the owner can provide a pass. The coast is a short drive away: Sandymouth beach in Cornwall is known for surfing, while the South West Coastal Path and Hartland Lighthouse are within reach on the North Devon side. Woolsery village has a well-regarded restaurant and fish and chip shop nearby.
