The Retreat

The Retreat suits families after space and flexibility, couples wanting a peaceful base, or groups of friends needing separate sleeping areas. This detached Scandinavian-style lodge sits on a golf complex in Torridge, with the coast within easy reach—Westward Ho! and its surfing beaches are a short drive, as are theme parks including The Big Sheep and Milky Way. Clovelly, Hartland Abbey and the RHS Gardens at Rosemoor are all nearby for days out.

Inside, the ground floor is arranged for open living and eating, with a working kitchen where you can cook proper meals rather than rely on takeaways. Three bedrooms split six people comfortably: one double with an ensuite shower, and two further rooms with single beds. A family bathroom with bath and shower completes the sleeping quarters. The essential amenities—electricity, heating, bed linen and towels—are included. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. Outside, there is a patio with seating and private parking for one car.

The area works for outdoor activity. Cycling the Tarka Trail, woodland walks, or exploring the coastal paths can all fill a week. The nearest pub is two and a half miles away; a shop six miles. No smoking inside.
