Hawthorn comes fully set up for self-catering: the kitchen has an electric oven, hob, fridge and washing machine, so you can cook properly rather than make do. Bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are all covered. The cottage sleeps four across a double and a twin bedroom, with a bathroom combining shower and bath upstairs. Downstairs is a living room with television and a dining area.

Outside, there's an enclosed patio with garden furniture, and the property sits on an estate with woodland and fields available to explore. One dog is welcome, provided it stays on a lead. You get private parking for two cars with unloading at the door, and check-in is after 15:00.

Nutley village has restaurants and shops nearby; supermarkets are a 15-minute drive away in Uckfield. The location puts you within reach of Ashdown Forest, Sheffield Park Garden and Bewl Water for day trips. No smoking inside the cottage.
