3 High Rake

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

3 High Rake is a two-bedroom cottage built from Lakeland stone on a steep hillside above Glenridding. The climb to the front door—13 steps up a terraced garden—rewards you with views across the valley and direct access to fell walks, including routes up Helvellyn. The garden itself is tiered and narrow, with seating facing the landscape. You'll need to be comfortable with the gradient: the property isn't suitable for guests with walking difficulties.

Inside, the ground floor holds a living room with a woodburner (initial logs provided) and a combined kitchen and dining space. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with a bath and shower. Electricity, bed linen and wifi are included. There's parking for two cars on site.

Glenridding village, about half a mile away, has shops and cafes. The nearest pub is a quarter-mile walk down the hill. Kirkstone Pass connects you to Ambleside and Windermere to the south, and Keswick lies roughly the same distance north. One pet is welcome; smoking is not.
