Bridge House
Westmorland and Furness
Threlkeld sits at the foot of Blencathra, one of the Lake District's most distinctive peaks. Step out of Bridge House and turn left onto the footpath that climbs the fell; the village itself has two pubs within easy reach down the road, one with a restaurant, and a church opposite. Keswick is 4 miles away by hourly bus, with its market and lakeside position on Derwentwater as a half-hour journey.
This stone cottage has been renovated to keep original character—oak beams, sash windows, a slate fireplace in the main living and dining space. Three bedrooms sleep five: a double and two singles upstairs, plus another single. One bathroom with bath and shower. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly, and there's a sitting area outside to use on fine days. Heating is handled by night storage heaters and panel heaters, with fuel for the open fire included. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels come as standard. The cottage is yours alone, and one well-behaved dog is welcome. No smoking inside.
