Esthwaite is a stone cottage on three floors in central Windermere, behind the main street but within easy reach of shops, pubs and restaurants. The ground floor contains an open-plan living and dining space with a kitchen fitted for proper cooking—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave and all the basics. Upstairs are three bedrooms: two on the first floor (one with single beds, one with bunks) and a larger double on the second floor under the eaves. Both bathrooms have either a bath or shower, with heated towel rails. The property includes WiFi, electricity, bed linen and towels; gas central heating keeps it warm in cooler months. Cot and highchair are available if needed. Parking is on the road outside.

The cottage suits families or groups of six looking for a self-contained base for Lake District breaks. Windermere itself has pubs within a minute's walk and shops nearby. The lake district around here offers fell walking, water sports, and the quieter waters of Esthwaite Lake itself—a few miles away and known for trout fishing—along with the literary heritage of Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter country. Non-smokers only.

Serene and calm with beautiful reflections of the fells. Swans, ducks and, if you are lucky, you might see the ospreys. Anglers love it, walkers enjoy all the trails and cyclists often stop at the superb Boathouse Café. Boat trips can be arranged at the tackle shop. Total relaxation.

Over the moon with our guided pike fishing boat session with the fabulous Dave Coleman!! Great day, great craic out on the boat despite the biting cold wind! Dave was super helpful and his knowledge is superb! He put us on a couple of known pike spots and finally in the early afternoon managed to catch one of the resident pike! If you are interested in fishing at Esthwaite water then definitely get on the phone and have a chat with any of the team over in the office, do it!! Thanks again to Dave, Shaun and team over there 👌🏽 All the best for the future Esthwaite water 😊👍🏼

A lovely quiet lake, well worth a visit to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the larger lakes. Best place to go for parking if you want to be right by the lake side is Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery, there is a long stay car park about 100m up the road. You can then take the path from the car park to the boat house for some lovely coffee and buy some food to feed the ducks! There are beautiful scenic views across the lake and if you are so inclined, you can even hire a boat to head out on the water. Well worth a visit, we'll certainly be returning!
