Built around 1650 as a granary attached to a farmhouse, this Grade II listed cottage retains the solid character of its age—massive oak beams run through the rooms, a reminder of its working past. The building sits in Water Yeat Village Hall area, in rural Westmorland and Furness, where the landscape opens out toward fell country. Access is via seven steps to the entrance, and the layout is compact: a bedroom with a super king bed and ensuite on the ground floor, then living and dining rooms and kitchen upstairs.
The kitchen has a ceramic hob, combi microwave and oven, and a dishwasher. Heating is oil and electric. Bed linen, towels and wifi are provided. A pub lies within a mile, and there is on-road parking outside. A bench across the road offers views toward the fells. The cottage does not have a garden, though there is seating at the top of the cottage steps. Smoking is not permitted. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
The area suits quiet breaks and walking: the village has a shop and tearoom, longer walks lead to nearby fells, and Holehird Gardens lie two miles away. Note that the cottage has steep, spiral stairs.
