Popular readily accessible pub. It has rooms but we did not stay. We had lunch scampi with chips, peas and tar tar sauce. My wife had a small 5oz steak with chips. Steak very nice, scampi ok. Portion size fair by today's standards although chips very average. Service friendly and efficient. Setting is beautiful and pub everything you imagine a Cumbrian should be. Nice size car park and outside seating. Four stars because it's a chain pub and leans into that corporate style and didn't stay so can't judge that. Worth a visit but as I say popular so book or go early.

We were met by Paul the manager, and he showed us to our room and explained everything we needed to know. We loved the quirkiness of the old building. The quality of the fixtures fittings and furniture was good. The food and service was all good. We really liked the manager Paul, nothing was too much trouble and the suggestions for days out were excellent, and we could not believe the long hours he worked.

What an exceptional dining experience! The Crisp Pork Belly and Ale & Steak Pie were absolutely outstanding, both in taste and presentation, earning a perfect score. Service was prompt, making for a seamless visit. Highly recommend this place for anyone seeking top-notch meals!

We stayed at the Queens Head for one night before heading to our wedding venue, and the only thing we regret is not booking for longer! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming. A special mention must go to Paul, who not only made our stay feel extra special but also made our dog feel genuinely welcome too. Our room was stunning, with beautiful views and excellent facilities. The little touches really stood out, including the delicious flapjacks, local ale, robes, slippers, and well-stocked tea and coffee facilities. The food was exceptional. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner during our stay, and every meal was fantastic. The freshly made breakfast pastries were quite simply the best I've ever tasted! The location is perfect for exploring the area, with wonderful walks right on the doorstep. We honestly can't recommend the Queens Head highly enough and would love to return for a longer stay in the future.
