Hallin Bank - The Fold at Hallin Bank

Martindale is a quiet valley tucked into the eastern Lake District, with open fells rising on either side and Ullswater a short walk away. The Fold at Hallin Bank sits at the edge of this landscape, a converted farm building with countryside access and views across the valley. One double and one single bed sleep three; there's a shower room with washing machine on the ground floor. The log-burning stove in the living room has low windows—original openings when farm animals passed through—and a raised seating area can be curtained off for privacy if needed.

The kitchen/dining room has an electric cooker and Aga, fridge and the basics for self-catering. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; wood for the burner costs extra. Outside, a terrace and sitting area overlook the enclosed garden, with parking for one car on site. Dogs stay free. Children under 12 are not suitable for this property due to steep banks and drops within the grounds.

The valley is known for red deer and serious walking country. Trails from here climb Hallin Fell and Beda Fell toward High Street, all with views over the fells and lakes. Ullswater Steamer runs cruises from the lake shore, and wild swimming and kayaking are possible when the water temperature suits. Aira Force waterfall is within reach for a riverside walk.
