Families and larger groups will find Kingston works well for a Lake District base. The house spreads over three floors with four bedrooms—one kingsize, two doubles, and two singles—plus two bathrooms, so there's space for everyone. Downstairs is a living and dining room with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped to cook proper meals, and access to a courtyard with garden seating. An outbuilding contains a washing machine and tumble dryer, useful for a week away with children. Bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are all covered; there's parking for two cars on site, and a bike store if you've brought wheels.

What sets Kingston apart is its position in Waterhead, just a short walk from the ferry landing where steamers depart for cruises across Windermere. The lake is genuinely close by, making it straightforward to spend days on the water or exploring Ambleside's shops, cafes and pubs without needing to drive. The house is no-smoking throughout.
