About Waterside

Step into either of the two rooms at Waterside and the first thing you notice is the view: open outlooks over Lake Windermere and the surrounding fells, the kind that make it hard to leave the window. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, with a kitchen available for guests who want to put together their own meals during the stay.

Food is a strong point here, with a generous breakfast spread and straightforward pub-style dishes served on site. Staff are on hand around the clock at 24 hour reception, and the team has a reputation for being friendly and genuinely helpful. Free WiFi runs throughout, and parking is provided for guests, though it's worth noting some visitors have found the parking charges steeper than expected.

The setting puts guests within easy reach of Ambleside's town centre, with fishing, watersports, cycling and walking all close by, plus pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for evenings out. Pets are welcome, making it a practical base for exploring the Lake District on foot, by bike, or out on the water.

Our stay at the Wateredge Inn was fabulous! Despite the rainy weather, the staff were incredibly lovely and were so accommodating. We stayed in Skelgyll (I don't know if I spelled that correctly) for 2 nights, and it was an amazing experiece for relaxing. The room was very clean. It featured a large bed, a sitting area with coffee table and a telly, a dresser and a chair, a closet space with ironing board, a coffee station, hair dryer, an en suite with a large shower, as well as a balcony area with a lovely view of the lake. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and we had an incredible, chilled stay. The room I've booked included breakfast, and it was served daily in the restaurant area. It was a continental breakfast selection with the usual pastries, cereals, and hot food - alongside a variety of breakfast juices, tea and coffee. If you didn't fancy the selection, there was also an option to order breakfast staples that came with the menu cards. Parking was free, provided you registered your car in reception on arrival. The parking area can possibly accommodate about 50 cars (give or take). Also worth noting is, if you opted to not have your room cleaned in the morning, you can note this on a link (given to you on a card on check in) the night before, and you can claim a free drink at the bar in exchange! How amazing is that!? 😊

Great stay, really good value for money. Location is fantastic, staff are really friendly and our room, a small double, was just what you need to be honest, didn't feel small and well decorated. Lovely drinks in the beer garden with that amazing view. We had dinner in the restaurant and I cant really understand some of the negative reviews I've seen. It is good standard pub grub. My jalepeno cheeseburger was really really tasty, the fries were great and a nice coleslaw on the side. Was really enjoyable. My partner has scampi and said it was really nice too. Portion sizes were big too. Im not sure what people are expecting from pub grub? It's hardly going to be Michelin star! If you want a good pub meal with great views, you cant go wrong. Will definitely be back.

I just had a fantastic stay and loved everything about it! The room was snug, super clean, and really well-kept, which made for a perfect night's sleep. The service was outstanding; the staff greeted me warmly and made sure everything went smoothly. I enjoyed a delicious evening meal, and I can't wait to come back again! Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, I only stayed the night after the Great North swim. The views are stunning, it is such an amazing location. The rooms were beautiful and very stylish, bit on the warm side for me, if I'd stayed longer, I'm sure I'd have figured out how you turn the heating down though. The staff were absolutely amazing, so helpful and very patient. After having done the swim I was knackered and my brain was not firing on all cylinders, I had 2 members of staff helping us find our rooms across the road and they were so lovely and incredibly patient. The food was delicious too! Would highly recommend
