Lookin How
Westmorland and Furness
This detached cottage dates back centuries, built from local stone with the character of a working Lake District property. Four bedrooms across two floors sleep eight, with two bathrooms to serve the group. Lookin How sits at the edge of Dockray hamlet on ground that slopes away towards Aira Beck, so the house itself sits on multiple levels—something to bear in mind when planning your stay.
The ground floor holds a living room with a wood burner and views toward the fell, a separate dining room with period furnishings and a full bookcase, and a kitchen fitted with an electric range, dishwasher and all the basics for self-catering. A conservatory opens onto a patio where red squirrels and various birds regularly appear. Bedrooms come with a kingsize, a double and two pairs of singles; the shower room and bathroom both have baths or showers as needed. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, and logs for the burner come as standard.
Walking and cycling trails start from the door. A pub sits just 100 yards away. Penrith town centre is twenty minutes by car, and Keswick is roughly the same distance. The property is non-smoking and available year-round, though slopes in the grounds may affect accessibility for some visitors. An enclosed garden and private parking come with the booking.
