Appleby-in-Westmorland sits in the Eden Valley, a market town with a broad main street and easy reach of the Lake District, North Pennines and surrounding fells. Fell Cottage is part of the Milburn Grange group of properties, positioned on the village outskirts near Knock with private parking and direct access to the walking and cycling routes that crisscross the area. The town itself has a railway station on the Settle to Carlisle line, shops and pubs within walking distance, and the kind of quiet remoteness that attracts people looking to step away from busier areas.

The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a double, two singles, and a bunk bed. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs, a living room with television and DVD player opens to a kitchen/dining space with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, so you can prepare meals and manage laundry independently. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity included in your stay. The property has its own garden and sitting-out area with furniture, plus on-site parking for two cars. A shared games room with pool table is available to guests. No smoking is permitted inside.

One well-behaved pet is welcome. The location suits families and groups wanting countryside walking or cycling, or anyone using Appleby as a base for exploring the wider region.

We booked for a week away as a family (including a pooch) and it was just what we needed. My wife and I have been here many years ago and loved it then and the friendliness, tranquility and beauty still do not disappoint. Located on the edge of the fells of the north Pennines this place is stunning with easy access to surrounding areas no matter what you are wanting to do. Whether you want to visit the lakes of the Lake District, shops and local business or walk the fells Milburn Grange is ideally situated to visit all. Set back away from the A66 the area is quiet and on lighter nights provides picturesque views of the surrounding valley. The number of cottages available are beautiful and comfy which is all you could really want. Plenty information was provided of things and places to go in surrounding areas by owner Russel & Debbie. Definitely a place we will be visiting again and the fact that the cottage is dog friendly with so many places allowing dogs inside we will definitely take him again too. Would recommend to all. Thank you so much for the break and memories.

Had a lovely stay in Helm Cottage for a long weekend with friends. 6 of us stayed and the cottage was big enough that we had lots of space. Also the 2 adults in the bunk bed rooms had no issues with the size at all. Debbie and Russell are lovely people and were very welcoming and offered us some local knowledge on where to eat and where to go for our day trips. The cottage itself was so clean and had everything we needed inside. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

We are just back from our holiday at Milburn Grange for the second consecutive year. This is a wonderful place to stay at – cottages are cosy and well equipped, there are so many wonderful places to go within minutes, Russel and Debbie are wonderful hosts and they happily go the extra mile to make you feel at home.
