Ambleside sits at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, where the village has grown around Roman remains and Victorian mills. Walking country radiates outward—the Fairfield Horseshoe begins within metres—and the lake itself is within reach for swimming or watersports. Oaks Farm Cottage occupies a quieter corner of this popular Lake District location, yet remains practical for exploring: pubs are within a mile and parking for four cars is on site.
The cottage has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping eight. Downstairs, a living room with a wood-burning stove opens to the garden; the kitchen-diner is equipped for full self-catering. Two of the bedrooms are upstairs, including one with a king bed and another with a double, plus two further bedrooms with single beds on the ground floor. A stock of logs, heating, electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi are all included. The small garden and patio overlook the fells; the gentler sound of waterfalls from the nearby Stock Ghyll stream carries through. Note that the garden has slopes, and no smoking is permitted inside.
