The Hoggest and Annexe

Westmorland and Furness

The Hoggest sits in countryside at the foot of Blencathra, between Threlkeld village and Keswick, with fell views across the garden. The main house and separate annexe together hold six bedrooms and five bathrooms, arranged to give a large group privacy while keeping everyone under one roof if needed. The main house has an open-plan ground floor with a living area, dining space and kitchen, plus a woodburner and bi-fold doors opening to the garden. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, each with an ensuite. The annexe mirrors this on a smaller scale, with its own living and dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and shower room, making it ideal for a family wanting their own retreat within the group.

The main kitchen is fully equipped for cooking from scratch—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. A utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The property includes heating (with underfloor heating on the ground floor), electricity, bed linen, towels, wifi and logs for the woodburner. Outside is a private hot tub for six people and a large garden with patio and furniture. Parking is available for six cars. A welcome pack awaits on arrival. Travel cots, highchairs and stairgates can be provided on request. No smoking throughout.

This works for extended family groups or friends wanting a full house with room to spread out. Keswick and the Lake District National Park are within easy reach for fell walks, lakeside drives or exploring the wider region. The property itself offers enough space and comfort that you need not leave the garden if you prefer not to.

This place is actually heaven on earth. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Close enough to Keswick to be convenient, but far enough away you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. The views are incredible. Sublime. The hot tub is perfect, day or night. On a clear night after a long walk there is nothing better! The place itself, a former barn, has been restored lovingly. It is decorated in a beautiful modern way and extremely well furnished and equipped. The only thing I couldn’t find which I would have liked was a meat thermometer, but that’s just me and shows more about how much WAS there!!! 😂 We stayed over New Year full a week. There was a beautiful Christmas tree and tasteful seasonal decorations. There was also a welcome basket with goodies including fizz.I was worried with it being so remote the deliveries we had booked might get lost but all found their way to us. One delivery man even wanted the website to check out when he could stay! We had 3 generations of our family together and all of us loved it. I arrived first, and over the course of a week we ended up having the group in waves, and I genuinely loved welcoming more of my family to this amazing place and hearing their reaction (which always started with WOW!) The owners were friendly and helpful from the very first communication. Faultless. As I said, heaven on earth. We will be back.

Stayed for a week Aug 2022, amazing location. The house is very private with stunning views in every direction. Love the kitchen and lounge space. Perfect for big family/friends to chill out. Got the weather this year as well which made sitting on the patio into the evening great as the sun went down. Best views from a hot tub I have ever had we will return.

The Hoggest is our "go to" place ! The location is just stunning, idyllic and tranquil, you feel like you are in the middle of no-where yet with so many places to visit on the doorstep, we love Keswick. The accommodation is immaculate yet homely with everything you will need. We have had a few visits now with great dinner nights in with friends or cosy cuddles on the sofa watching films ... its perfect for either, as is the hot tub (day or night time) !! The annexe is new and beautifully done. We have been in the spring and watched lambs being born and around Christmas time which really got us into the spirit with the lovely tree and log fire ! Rachel couldn't be a more approachable and friendly host and we are really looking forward to our next visit !
