About Rayrigg Villa at Windermere

Rooms at Rayrigg Villa at Windermere come with their own en-suite bathroom and drinks provided, a small but welcome touch after a day out in the Lakes. There are eight rooms in total, including family options, so the property suits couples and groups travelling together, and free WiFi is available throughout for anyone needing to stay connected.

Outside the rooms, guests have a garden to relax in and luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Windermere town is close by, and the guest house sits near a golf course, fishing spots, and options for horse riding, walking and cycling, making it a reasonable base for those wanting to fill their days with outdoor activity. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are within easy reach for evening meals.

One practical point worth noting: there is no parking available at the property, so guests arriving by car will need to plan for this. Otherwise, the location works well for exploring both the town and the wider Windermere area on foot or by bike.

Clean and functional. Very handy for Windermere shops and cafes. Has a shared kitchen and laundry room, which is really handy. Kitchen is a bit under-equipped - needs more pans and cutlery - we couldn't get our TV working and our bathroom was a bit small and fusty. But a good budget option.

When I entered the room, I took off my shoes — which is when I realized the carpet was wet. Not just a little damp — wet. Like “someone-mopped-without-warning” wet. It was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom had a weird smell to it, like a mix between cleaning products. And I’ve seen airplane toilets with more space than that bathroom. No exaggeration. The sink? It was the size of my palm. No kidding. (See photo.)

Our room was very clean and plenty big enough, we had a double and single bed which were really comfy. The rooms are a bit tired and bathroom was really small but we weren't put off by that. You fill in the breakfast menu the day before for cooked food and they also offer cereal, fruit and yogurts. The staff were lovely and the location is right on the doorstep of the town, (Windermere) and just over a mile from Bowness. I'd definitely recommend.

I stayed here for a couple of nights, checking in was easy and lovely staff, the room was very small and in need of updating, the first day we had no hot water in the sink but the shower had hot water. There wasn't really anywhere to get ready for a night out, there was a small mirror behind the door and an extension lead attached to a table at the other side of room, I ended up buying another extension lead and putting the mirror on the floor to do my hair and makeup, not a great position at 61. The bed was comfy and clean, although the bedding was old and tatty, even had a small hole in the quilt cover. When we asked for extra milk and toilet paper it was brought to us without a problem. The breakfast was lovely and cooked just right. The location was brilliant and the building really beautiful from the outside like most of windermere. I would stay here again but probably ask for a different room and be more prepared to rough it
